Pretty simple: what do you think about centaurs and dwarves, after an increasingly long exposure to human and ____-elven culture in general, taking up some of their more "devoted" followings, such as those of the paladin and the hellion? IC racial-cultural development nonwithstanding, just the idea of having new combinations to screw around with can be good for the game itself.

Dwarves and centaurs recently have been in a little bit of a need for love, what with all these other races suddenly becoming heavily dominant (sprites seem to be incredibly popular as of late). Maybe this would be a good way of showing it to them.

I personally think it would be pretty awesome. I'm sure someone else out there agrees, too. Who knows what kinds of builds you'd pull off with those, though. I suggest we get Cannibal on the case for that.

For those that need the poll spelled out to you: the poll has many options for "yes" -- there's no purpose to there being that many "yes" options except for one reason: you either already have a good idea of why you'd like the idea instated, or you don't. There's one option for "won't play one, would like to see them". There's one option for anywhere from "not sure" to "don't care", which is the "indecisive" gray area. And then there's one option for "get the hell out of dodge". :)

It'd make sense to see dwarven paladins, I'm not sure I could see them as hellions, though.

I can see dwarves as both hellions and paladins. But I'm not so sure about centaurs. It would be a interesting change.

You know, with an answer like 'die in a fire' it was very hard to resist and vote for dwarf paladin.
I suggest you change it if you want to get a non-biased poll :p

Yeah.. I almost picked that even though I am for all of these. My ONLY problem with all of this is that you might see less and less humans. I hate muds where there are so many races that humans are considered a weird/stupid choice. Right now the classes are as balanced as you are going to get them without completely breaking them.. though I would not cry if delfs got one more CON point.. I mean, it sounds dumb that a sprite could take more hits.

I'm getting off track, though. It would be a fun mix up to see new race options for these classes. I'm not sure of the IC reason as to why they haven't already been given such honors, but many people (Including me) have RPed out dwarven knight like characters. And I tried to roll a centaur hellion once and was kinda pissed to find out I couldn't.

They both have their ups and downs, but I see no fault in the RP. I'd like to see the points from those who disagree though.

On centaurs, even though they are constantly being exposed to civilized culture, the general thing of most NPC's and even PC's seems to still be a tribal one, so I can't see them being paladins or hellions.

I agree. Centaurs aren't quite the knight type. Way too tribal. Though not always RP'd that way.

I think dwarven pallys and hellions make so much sense. I would make a dwarf hellion of Sargas.

Centaurs need something. There's what, like one or two high level centaurs?

Centaurs have a very tribal culture and the twink in me screams make this so. They would be absolutely overpowered though as either paladin or hellion unfortunatly. Size large cleaves with high constitution, high mana pools, high strength, and decent intelligence. The only low stat they have is dexterity, which with haste they can have in the 20's. Centaur stats would be super geared for both of these classes. They also have innate damage resistance to blunt, acid, and they can kick which is really good for leveling and blunt weak races. Paladin centaurs especially would be nasty tanks because their protection spells would pretty much overwhelm their racial weaknesses and given their high mana pools they could heal themselves for quite some time. Size large cleave with 25 strength from a centaur would be killer. My size medium cleaves are already rediculous when using things like cold iron on elves...I can only imagine how insane a centaur's would be.

As much as I'd like to roll a centaur paladin or hellion and beat face, I honestly see the race as too overpowered for it.

Now dwarves. OMG. They are civilized. They are so stubborn that no one could impune on their honor. They make perfect hardasses for both paladin and hellion. They'd have nasty tanking abilities as a paladin and could be really good front row hellions as well. Probably be way better tanks than the other races. This would of course be offset by their lower intelligence. They couldn't hold as many spells as a paladin and I doubt they'd ever get to use dominate as a hellion so it rather works out. I think they would be pretty balanced.
