What if we got rid of the unusable/restricted/hated Final strike spell, and gave Sorcs a lower level knock/wizlock spell that would be pickable and bashable, and one GM "Greater Wizlock" that would make a door unpickable, unbashable, and unpassable with Ether?

This would also help create a mage tower feel for high level Sorcs too.

What are your (non flame) thoughts?

Oh yeah, hoarding places and even more hoarding places.

Great, great...

Short answer: I hate it.

The idea of a sorceror who is able to charm a victim, lead them to a warded room and then lock them in with no chance of escape or rescue is ropey. I'm not sure any player should have such easy access to the unqualified restraint of another.

not with a spell time restriction. Is that the only reason you hate it?

Well, holding someone on charm is not a very fun without RP, nor is it an easy thing to do (i.e. OOC resisting, cabals and friends coming to aid). If there is limits to the duration of the door, you could have all of your cabal members waiting outside.

Again, a limited spell duration would change your reason for dislike no?

OK, it's not only a place for the sorc to hoard lewt, but to even hide himself. If someone is in a locked area and none can go in, he can sit there risk free and even when the timer ends, he recasts the spell.

Look, a sorc that can't be killed.

Only with voodoo this can happen, but anyone can logout when a potential voodoo threat is around. I know it, I've witnessed it with my shaman.

PS: I understand CRS is working almost like that but even then there is a way in to kill the sorc.

If a sorc wants to be invincible they already have that ability...

Neat idea, although I don't see it happening.

Five words.

I really don't like it.

If you want a safe area, go play in one, there are quite a few available.

Besides, no one in their right mind would choose wizlock over imbue.

I wouldn't mind seeing a replacement spell for FS, but not this. Ultimately, this spell only encourages the negative side of sorcs and solo playing. It is interesting but at best doesn't help the game's playability and at worst hurts the game's playability.

This goes way over the top. There are plenty of places a person can go to hide without other places being made unaccessible. What if a sorceror did it to an inn or a newbie school? There could be a -lot- of problems with something like this. I'm all for the replacement of FS, but not with a spell like this.
