Well it wasnt really anything I origionally was trying to persuade for so oh well. But whats the chances of getting parry? and Perhaps a reduction in concentration cost of domination, moderate reduction is great but even a slight one would be well welcomed.

Well from my perspective I see more paladins on average than hellions. Perhaps thats a clue that hellions need something? I seriously think they are way better off.

My opinion is that hellions require significantly more skill to run at an average level than paladins do. It's like comparing necros and warlocks. Any warlock can join a group with a merc tanking and cast a few magmas and dish out damage. A player with that same level of experience with the game could not reliably animate armies and take on cities with a necro. It's that learning curve that sort of discourages players from making more hellions, i think- the hassle of constantly having a dominate in front of you.

Keep in mind i don't mean that pallies take less skill to play than hellions, because at the upper tiers of skill the class really doesn't matter. It's just easier to walk around with sanc on all the time than it is to have an equipped dominate.

my short experience with hellions taught me that dominates don't really make or break a hellion, all they ever did for me was slow me down.

A well made and well played hellion absolutely owns. I didn't feel like I was lacking anything.

Give Hellions parry.
Give Hellfire a nimbus-like affect.
Take away dominate.
Give Call Armor to Hellions.
Add concentration-based (held) 'Call Avatar' spell for both Paladin and Hellions.

Your idea was stupid from your second point onward.

I concur, but I didnt want to say stupid.

They should have some individuality but in basic combat skills they should be pretty similar.
They are two sides of the same coin right?

Perhaps just decrease the concetration on dominate. Mana cost for holding it would be nice to have lowered since carrying an extra suit of armor and weapon isnt very nice and having to go find and arm a dominate isnt much fun either. So I would see them as "throw aways" Grab a meat shield, it dies in combat so you can win.

Fits pretty good with the hellion code too. They are weak and they should die for you to win.

Plus the "call avatar" would be a copy of the warlocks unique spell "summon elemental"

They're not exactly opposites. A good thing to keep in mind is that hellions have VASTLY more combat ability against a variety of enemies than paladins. Paladins are focused on fighting evil, and many of their spells become useless or much less effective when fighting grays or even darkie classes that can't be hit by BoG.

I've come to think of hellions as armored rogues. Their code is fairly vague and open to a lot of interpretation, and if you look at their skill/spell set you'll realize that one on one fights with a paladin are VERY bad ideas.

The only changes to Hellions I can see is adding parry. I just can't reconcile how an armed and armored knight wouldn't know how to do that but a gutter snipe rogue with his knife would know how.

On the dominate issue, I would say it shouldn't be changed. Dominate is a really powerful spell and should be hard to use and after all there has to be some reason to play a deep-elf now a days. They can use dominate better then other hellions.

This is so stupid that I can only assume you put it in here as a joke, a fairly bad one.

Add parry. Give them the exhaust spell that Konge suggested. And then give them slow as well. Remove domination or fix the concentration/mana drain it takes on a hellion. It's utterly worthless.
