Post subject: | Mud Sound Protocol - Would you use it? |
Sitting here in the dead of morning, listening to the hum of the fans in my computer while sitting in a well scripted zone with lots of pretty audio-esque descriptions texts flashing in front of my screen, I got to wondering if SK would ever implement any MSP (Mud Sound Protocol) What is MSP? As I mentioned, MSP is a mud sound protocol which allows the server to send information to play sounds on the local computer or download them from a server if not available locally. Why use MSP? Many people already use sounds on the client end of the game using triggers and sound playing commands, however it would be nice for a consistent set from computer to computer, player to player. Supported by: zMud, cMud, Mushclient, gMud, SimpleMu Not supported: TinTin++ (that I can see), basic Telnet, KildClient (Achernar apparently uses this?) Support information from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... ol_support |

well apparently there is a beep command, but all else could be configured localy with a simple trigger, why force this to players who might not want it. |

help ANSI. They could add a question at character creation for MSP and a help MSP and the same with ANSI, have MSP be a toggle command. |

I think it could get annoying fast, personally, especially if it wasn't an area-wide setting. |

I think he means something more along the lines of: You hear the sound of a blacksmith nearby que audio: (Hammer Striking Anvil) Not game theme music... |

Overused stock sounds are as inane as overused stock words. It would not age well as a feature. |

I like the idea. SK would suit 8-bit game music very well. BTW grep... For some, the example you gave was not a deterrent but was rather an amusing and attractive example of the concept. |
