I think this is a bug to do with formations. Being mounted takes them out of any position and opens them to circle and hamstring.

Presumably though untested a centaur/griffon that was being ridden by someone in the back row would be able to be bashed/hit in melee by enemies in the front row.

edit- just to make it clear, this is shown by this log:

You are looking at a lanky male minotaur.
A deformed male troll and a white-eyed male deep-elf are behind him.
Overall, a lanky male minotaur has some small wounds and bruises.

Not sure its a bug, since being ridden takes you out of formation and as thus vulnerable to a rogues attack. The spirit rider forced to tank in this situation is more concerning since they are not to be used as tanks.

You can't position a griffon or centaur that's being ridden by the spirit rider, you have to position the spirit rider.

Yeah you are reading the log wrong, there is a griffon beneath it being used as a tank, as evidenced by him getting thoroughly owned in the snippet.

I think that is because everyone is aiming at him, not because he is the primary tank. Not sure where the bug is here, except for the limited formation code I guess.

Well if Hoch was mounted by the spirit rider, he should have been in rank f2 with the spirit rider on top of him. Essentially they should both be in rank f2. I personally think this is a bug, especially since there were two people behind him.

Oh ... I thought this was a change to hamstring/circle. Certainly there are problems with being mounted. Sometimes I rescue people and it takes me out of combat.

While we're addressing mount bugs, what about the one most of us are familiar with? x groups with y. X mounts y. Y gets bashed, and the aggressor is forced into having target X even if you re-focus to y. In the last instance it showed me striking X with my attacks, but showed y's health as excellent at the end of each round. Sorry no log but this happened to me multiple times and I will try it next time.

So is the real problem that a mount is not being treated as the same part of the formation as the rider? Please confirm.

Yes D I think that's the bug.
