A stumpy male halfling punches at your left leg, shattering your kneecap!
Your left leg is BROKEN!
A stumpy male halfling's punch at your chest is deflected by fur hide.

Are griffon legs supposed to be affect by toughness? I've found that their legs are very vulnerable and I do not think toughness is affecting them. The arms on the other hand are affect by toughness. I was just wondering if it was meant to be this way? If it was this is bad, because all people simply have to do is aim lower against griffons to really rock their world. As of yet my legs have never deflected anything with their fur hide, as opposed to the rest of the body.

I have noticed the same.

After a long fight and getting beat up well taking good hits everywhere. I look at myself and see.

Code:
You are looking at a griffon.
Your chest is scratched.
Your left arm is scratched.
Your left leg is bleeding.
Your right leg is bleeding.
Overall, you have some big nasty wounds and scratches.

Not to mention, Demon's griffon after a very long and brutal fight looked like this.

Code:
You are looking at a griffon.
His left leg is severed.
His right leg is severed.
Overall, someone has a few scratches.

I don't know if it is toughness exactly that has the bugs or perhaps it lays in the griffon fur innate armor code. But griffon legs do seem exceptionally poorly proteced verses the rest of their body.

I'm curious whether or not the griffon in this post is using a shield.

I am assuming so.

Oops. I didn't notice the shield block message in the log. That answers my question.

Not sure if it matters, but shield block is mastered as well.

I to had problems with this but I played a dwarf. No matter how much HP I had my legs would always end up broken for some reason, and I was using a shield at the time as well.

I don't know if it matters, but I've had a lot of trouble out of this particular NPC with my barbarian giant. Even with leg armor on, they always managed to sever my legs before I got below 80 percent. I had to upgrade to better armor to stop the problem, but I always assumed that it was just a trait of this NPC type.

I should update this post by saying I tested this without a shield and I my character's legs weren't getting anymore jacked up than the rest of his body, so does this mean that maybe the AC added from the shield is jacking with the toughness somehow?
