Is there an official imm policy on using the who list to discover someones name? I believe Rial got punished for this once, so I wanted to clarify for my own use. Someone refuses to tell me their name. I type who. I cast invis on them, I type who, again. I can just check quickly to see which name disappeared, and then - I know their name. Legal? Not legal? I think at one point it was punishable, but this seems to me to be a completely IC way of discovering someones name, but perhaps not. |

Hmmm . . .I think that would be an abuse. On a related subject. I think Lore should tell someone's name. That is completely in with what the skill is. |

The purpose of the who list has always been to assist you in finding out who is currently playing so that you can meet up. The who list has IC information such as titles, but the command itself is pretty much OOC. |

This is borderline behavior. I would say it is probably not the best way to learn someone's name. A |

When they put you in jail they'll say the name of the one you attacked. |

I'll admit using locate object to determine people on the who list. |

I prefer killing them, and then IDing the corpse. Some people think that's a little extreme though. ...and you make a lot of enemies. |

Then by default, wouldn't the greet command be kind of OOC, and thus I should NOT be forced to greet someone if I don't want them to know my real name? |
