Last week, the world lost one of the greats. There was a death, in California, that people on all continents will mourn. It was rather unexpected and while we knew them well, the underlying problems finally overtook this hard worker. There have been many contributions over the years, countless hours of effort. I'm sure you will all miss this true great. I was at a loss for words when I found out. We will be having a moment of silence for the loss we all must feel at this announcement. Sometime over the next week, Dulrik will shut down the mud for a few minutes in recognition of the greatness that has been taken from all of us before its time. Its really hard to let go and hopefully everyone can band together in this time of need. Who was this great contributor? This bastion of such amazing and wonderful things... is the original SK box. Yes, our first server has finally bit the dust. It served as the main server for SK for almost a dozen years and has been used to test all code updates since its retirement in 2007. Lets all take a moment to recognize just how much one single computer has given us. Thank you, SK box (the original). We will miss you! Perhaps in the death of this long-time servant a new and stronger one will be found to aid our SK code needs. PS We will need to create a backup of the mud over the next week, so there will be a short shutdown so Dulrik can work his magic. It will probably go unnoticed by most players. PPS Sorry, no stats for the stat [REDACTED]. |

A decent run; I wasn't around for the awkward younger days, but it was an honor to see the finish. I must admit I wasn't expecting it to end like this. Good luck with your next |

I was one of the first to hear the news, direct from an eyewitness at the scene who tried to revive the one we all cherish. It's a pity more people didn't get to enjoy such a beautiful creation. Living on the edge as it did though, it was probably only a matter of time before is succumbed to the pressures of such daily rituals, performing 24/7 all for our benefit. I'd also like to take a moment to thank the brethren of SKMUD I, being SKTEST 0.5. Another box that left us too soon. |

I want the autopsy of this! I suspect someone gave it some bad code. In the meantime, can we get some footage of where it lived? Everyone is dying to know. |
