A bit belated. I forgot to put up a thread for him. There are no stats, unfortunately. He was a master 1 Hellion of Sargas, but I got tired of the way the sargas faith was run at the time, and the # of hellions there were in the game. (not so) Short story about Lance: He was the firstborn son of the Harcourts, a taslamaran noble family. Half elven son of a half elven mother and human father (Jergan). Their tradition is that the first son of the house becomes a paladin and joins the hammer of light, while the second one joins the peacekeepers. Lance was sent to Alshain's temples for training and tutoring. As he grew older and studied, he did feel the call they say one feels when he is to become a holy knight. To him, it manifested as pure flames that appeared to him in his sleep, burning taslamar's enemies to ashes. His mentors were pleased for this, and begun teaching him the ways of combat and tactics. Lance always wondered why there are so many limitations in how the army of light should fight necromancy, since necromancers obviously pay little heed to what is right or honorable. He was told that a warrior of alshain must not question- Only fight with the blessings of the purifying flames and, if he should fall, it would be as Alshain deemed. One day, as he was fighting a duel with one of his senior pages, a human that the half elven Lance knew he could not possibly defeat in a straight contest of strength. He allowed the man to disarm him, and in the moment that his opponent thought he was victorious, lance struck him with the sword's scabbard on the head. As his enemy was stunned by the blow, Lance grabbed the man's sword from his grip and turned it against him. He was the only one pleased by this victory, however. Instead of praising him, his instructors scolded him and decided that his punishment would be to read the code of the paladin again and again in isolation, for one month. When he came out of isolation, he had changed. His eyes were different, colder. His instructors paid that no notice, assuming that the young man simply had his pride hurt from the punishment. They assigned him to treat to the wounded, as an attack against the city was made the previous day. Lance laid his hand on the forehead of a young warrior at the doors of death and invoked his lord's prayer of light healing. The warrior's eyes turned upwards and he screamed in pain as Lance's spell caused blood to trickle out of his ears, killing him. Lance was as surprised at this as everyone else in the room, but the guards swiftly seized him and threw him in prison. In that cold, damp cell, his dreams of white flames returned to him, only this time they were more clear. There was nothing pure or sacred about them. After they burned Taslamar's enemies they continued to devour the city of exile, and then spread out towards teron, nerina, selkwood, krychire and the empire, untill all of pyrathia was aflame, with Lance kneeling next to a huge throne. As soon as he was let out of prison, he was informed that he was ousted from the academy, as his ways of corruption had tainted his soul. This pleased Lance, as he now understood that the reason exile suffers so much under its enemies is not because it lacks the strength to defeat them, but because it lacks the strength to -crush- them. Lance would find that strength, and one day return to lead the armies of exile in a war of conquest. Lance had the fastest induction ceremony I've ever had. I was summoned by the HP of SArgas at the time, was told to bow before a throne, and then was given a symbol and told I would serve sargas well. Then there were 2 people that wanted to be his mentor. Gorvian told him that if he did not become his mentor, he would kill him, and the HF of war told Lance that if he was going to accept gorvian as his mentor, he would be blemished. Anyway. There were some very intense moments of RP between Lance and Denegyth, as well as Ceinwyn(sp?). I also did enjoy a certain conversation with Lirimaer as I was free to bash her to my heart's content with this evil character Thank you's go to: Denegyth, Lirimaer, Ceinwyn, Kemilla (:/), Gorvian, Ghrok, and that deep-elf female necro that kept talking deep tongue to lance who never did learn that tongue, and Llazuli, for sticking with me for a weird discussion about steaks Quote: Llazuli says 'Ah'm not cpnsidered one o mah family eider. So Ah left 'em and dey kin stay down in da dark.'
[HP:100%] [ME: 88%] [PE:100%] The heart of a young half-elven slave decomposes. [HP:100%] [ME: 96%] [PE:100%] > You get a steak of a young half-elven slave. [HP:100%] [ME: 96%] [PE:100%] > Lance holds the steak in one hand. [HP:100%] [ME: 96%] [PE:100%] Lance imitates his own voice in a more high pitched tone as he holds the steak upwards, almost making it seem like a marionette. [HP:100%] [ME: 96%] [PE:100%] You say ''Hi, I'm lance. I am going to be a paradin!'' [HP:100%] [ME: 96%] [PE:100%] Llazuli's bushy brows creep upward on her brow as she watches. Later. |

A bit belated, you think? I remember meeting Lance. I think I dismissed him quite quickly, if memory serves. Good to see my dismissals cause deletions. |

Lance was never dismissed. He only dismissed others. In his head, at least |

Awwww. I very much wanted to reward Lance the next time I saw him when I was PARing...and never saw him again. That was an insanely funny break in leveling. It was a misteak to let him go. |

I only knew him vicariously, though Denegyth. Just how many characters *do* you have? |
