Post subject:  [Hum Pal] Kalen Lien, Knight of Truth.

I'll keep this short: I created Kalen for a few reasons: I always wanted to play a paladin, and I felt like trying to reinforce the concept of the "nice" paladin a bit more. Sadly, I haven't spent much of my time wisely since I created Kalen, some RL issues have come up and I won't be playing SK for a while. Also, I rolled a necromancer just to get a feel for the class, and honestly, enjoyed it too much to quit and go back to Kalen, at least for a time.

I did my very best to play Kalen as an ideal role-model: Proud of his Faith, yet also humble: Willing to see both sides of an argument, and admitting when he is wrong, yet not backing down from his word even when none else agreed. Kalen wasn't perfect, by any means, (And almost all of his errors weren't "purposeful" but rather introduced by my own errors in trying to play a paladin, but that's what made it even more fun) but I honestly enjoyed playing him more than any other character I have played in SK.

His backstory was typical: Born and raised in the fields of Taslamar, and taught the virtues of duty and honor by his father, labouring in the fields. He traveled to Exile as a youth, commissioned by his father to follow Dulrik. The rest all happened ICly.

There's not much I would change if I played Kalen again: I enjoyed all of his interactions with other players. My biggest thanks go out to:

Yaubl, for being the coolest old samurai ever. Our first meeting where we sat and talked, an elder paladin teaching the new, was pretty much awesome. I believe Kalen was the last person to see you in the river after your age-death, and I smiled during your entire funeral, thinking about all the duty you were still fulfilling in your afterlife.

Vilmai, for being an awesome nemesis. We first met in Nerina where I attempted to teach you about the tenant's of Dulrik's faith, and Kalen was always pained about the path you chose. Every interaction of ours was something I immensely enjoyed.

Alifer - for being a very interesting "adversary." I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't bring our RP to fruition. Never should have rolled a necro.

Other thanks go out to all those in the Dulrik faith and all those I interacted with, both allies and enemies. Thanks to you all, and farewell!

I actually liked Kalen, he was very generous. Went through a few rough times with Aise, the whole "Aise sits in an inn, she must be a harlequin" thing gets annoying. But other than all that, he was really nice and a great idea of what a paladin should be. Cheers! :drunk:

Kalen was a fine character, a true paladin. Too bad you didn't stick with him.

Good luck man.

I really enjoyed every single time Kalen was about. Have fun to whatever you do next. Come back really soon.
