Here's the problem and I'm going to respond to this despite the thread being godwin'd one above:
You seem like a good enough guy with who genuinely enjoys this game for the right reasons. You certainly know enough to make decent characters. However you don't know enough to deal with the fallout of making a character reviled by large amounts of people - your character was a [REDACTED] ally and obviously hated by his enemies. That isn't to say it was a bad character - it wasn't. But you got frustrated because you bit off more than you could chew. I have done this on several characters. I will tell you that the trick, really, seems to me to be not worrying so much about who will be coming after you as making sure you can at least be allied with *someone*. Hope that helps.
