It has moved on to the afterlife and remains, withering, in the hearts of a few worthwhile individuals.

Dulrik should just delete everyone and start fresh.

.. i might get sitebanned for this, but it needs to be addressed.

The only problem is that a few players will be GM's within a week (max. They would have to be typing with their feet to be that slow) and the problem will just be back.

Dulrik should just hold people to higher standards of roleplay.

Curses should be more liberally given.

Can you get sitebanned for making a confusing poll now?

I don't know whether to vote that I agree with roleplaying, or disagree that roleplaying is not dying in the Afterlife...

He's saying Roleplaying is dead.

It's not dead, just our current player base is psychotic.

Just give the PKers an exp reason to roleplay and they will.

from what ive seen it takes very little to get banned these days.. so posting a thread in the Afterlife forums that contradicts its traditional usage may warrant a ban. idk

The "Do you Agree" refers to an agreement with the concept that Roleplaying is in the Afterlife. Or more simply, no one RPs anymore. Those that do are flecks of gold glistening in the dirt.

It might not now, but if ever it does happen to be enforced that way, expect to be sitebanned then, despite the fact that at the time of posting you violated no rules.

I disagree. Positive reenforcement is generally received better. I'd rather call for more player/imm interaction and more public rewarding of consistent roleplayers by the immortals (exp or otherwise).

Players have been saying that roleplay is dead since I've started playing. I've never had trouble finding it though.

Until recently, I actually thought we had a good group of players, until I was killed and looted for seemingly no reason other than someone was pissed off. I don't really get the "enemy by association" concept. If I'm a lightie and I hang out with a darkie on occasion, it doesn't really change my alignment. I don't agree with PK PK PK all the time. I'm not sure who would. I think the roleplay DOES suck nowadays.

If you don't play a cookie cutter character, your character doesn't get respected whatsoever. People just ignore you. Just so many things make this game less fun to play, and most of it isn't Dulrik's fault. It's the fact that you people can't accept characters outside the status quo or respect their RP wishes for the sake of OMG LOOT!!!

It's like you can't even have a peaceful character whatsoever. Yeah, SK is a dangerous world and you're going to get killed every now and then, even RPing as a peaceful character. But why would anyone be randomly roaming the realms looking to kill you specifically, even though you had no prior association with this person and had never even seen them before? Oh, maybe they typed locate object and saw something they liked?

The best part is when they turn on quiet mode after they PK you so you can't even RP AFTERWARD! I mean, seriously, where's the RP in that?

Obviously, this rant was more personal than anything...

Still, I have a point.

This is an excellent point, however there are two major obstacles to it. Immortal activity, and immortal numbers. Those immortals that are active and attentive do in fact do this sort of thing. More of this would encourage more positive roleplaying.

I think it was Wert that said "it isn't the big grp events that players remember most, it's the time that an immortal rps with them specifically, even in relatively mundane situations." I wholeheartedly agree with him. Most of the highlights of my SK time have been situations where an imm has taken time to change the day-to-day monotony of the game by adding a random NPC interaction, or even just giving a few room echoes to use as a jumping off point to really develop a character.

The flip side, though, is that poor roleplaying (or no roleplaying) does in fact need to be punished. That's what makes it an rp-enforced mud, and not an rp-encouraged mud. Those players that don't bother to put any effort into a character, and just want a bunch of stats and gear to own n00bs with need to get kicked in the teeth until they realize that that isn't okay.
