Range for pulling, and targets multiple, thus serving its purpose I believe. Had been the asset to PVE when levelling, and and remains useful pulling NPCs as a GM. I'd agree its damage is not the best, but ... I would think it would lose one of these utilities if it was mucked with.

Flamestrike is fun! It even hits an entire group! What more could you ask for?

Great leveling spell. The damage is not practical for PvP, but it's not designed that way. That's what HW, harm, and SoF are for. Just like burning hands IMO

Why does it feel like the prepatch burning hands? The damage doesn't even seem to be on par with a pole-mace that swings once per round. The cost of mana per damage output just feels off, but its cool. It not that big of a deal, I just don't think it is effective for leveling unless you found groups of centaurs.

If you find groups or 3 or more, flamestrike is at least as mana efficient for leveling than spear of faith. In PvP it's only good in siege situations, tribunal defending against unprepped groups or for drawing away guard NPCs. I don't think that it needs a damage buff though, as it's still group target and I know that with the enchantment change that MP isn't nearly as common as it used to be.

I've used flamestrike to level almost every priest I've rolled, although it's obviously only an option in a handful of leveling areas. It's also surprisingly nasty if a group isn't expecting it when they go against an outer guardian or against a lot of bounty NPCs, so having it mastered at GM is definitely worth it.

A chubby female gnome utters the words, 'flamestrike'.
You feel immense pain as a chubby female gnome directs a column of fire to strike you.
