THE GOLDEN RULE -- Everyone knows this one. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." It works a little differently on SK though. What it means is that you should attempt to respect the fact that other players are here to enjoy the game as well and gear your roleplay with other players to accomodate that. Roleplay before killing. Using out of character communication can ensure everyone involved is on the same page beforehand. And especially when dealing with newbies, take time to make sure they under- stand what is going on before treating them harshly, even if they would seem to deserve it. Without newbies the game eventually dies. I just want to point out the bolded part. Honestly, there isn't much RP done before killing. Here lately, a lot of the stuff you see is once war is declared, that's the end of it all. From then on out until someone is ready to surrender the RP sort of stops and takes a back seat to the PK. While I understand that Necromancers are hated, a lot of times you'll see Necros wading through down mowing down anything in your path. On the opposite spectrum, you see lighties doing this in their raids in cities and such. You rarely see RP between enemies before a clash more so than afterwards, especially on targets that don't really want to PK. Those take precedence and often times ganking them and getting the loot comes before trying to RP with them simply because you know oocly they'll flee at the first sign of danger if you don't attack before the second it takes them to realize you're there. While skirmishes are fun for some of us, keep on mind it's not fun to be on the losing end of repeated ganks. This isn't really healthy, especially on lesser factions such as the Guardians or so currently. This isn't aimed at darkies or lighties specifically but everyone in general. There should be a bit more RP rather than the kill first RP mentality. Just my 2 cents. Edit: Just want to throw in there that terms of surrender that include making a person retire a character or pay a bank full of obsidian, isn't really roleplay imo. |

Right..Posting about how to avoid PK when the premise of the thread is to RP before PK'ing..Yeah so ownt..I mean, I feel the burn. Oooow. /Sarcasm. |

Most RP before PK is done through tells because that is the only way you can talk to someone guaranteed. I'm sure we've all tried to RP before a PK before, and what normally happens? "Your enemy walks east." never to be seen again. |

As soon as my title was set to "Guardian of Selkwood", truces were broken and raids began on Sith. Most RP is done over a corpse. Not before. |
