If giant strength and weaken are supposedly opposites as the help file suggests, why then does grandmaster giant strength give about +5 (correct me if I'm wrong) and grandmaster weaken is about -10 (again correct me if I'm wrong). I think if you have giant strength up and you are hit with weaken you should basically only lose your giant strength. My two cents. Furthermore, most fighters who use giant strength have more than 20 STR to begin with so weaken would still be more powerful than giant strength in that respect. Weaken doing -5 would be debilitating, -10 is Overpowered. I can't see how a fighter with giant strength who is most likely at 25 strength gets hits with weaken and goes to -strong-. (Not to mention the fact that it can be put ON a weapon) p.s. This is Gameplay, no Flames. |

Back when I had a shaman, I would cast weaken on myself, and Nari would cast giant strength on me, we were both champion level, and cancel it out. I haven't tried the other way to try giant strength first, then weaken, but I would have to imagine that would be the scenario of them cancelling each other out. |

Treefinger, you have absolutely no understanding of gameplay mechanics, at all. This is already how GS and weaken interact. These spells already work the way you say you want them to. If you have GS, you have to get successfully weakened twice to actually LOSE any strength. Also, if -5 str is so debilitating, why were you QQing about fatigue being a joke in the other thread you started? (Hint : -5 str is not very impressive.) |

So at GM they aren't +5 and -10? |

So your saying that if my fighter (who has 23 str naturally) has GS which brings him to 25, the first weaken only brings him back to 23 and the second weaken brings him to Strong? That sounds wrong to me, but I obviously have no knowledge whatsoever of gameplay mechanics. |

Right. I'm not certain it's -10, but yes, the penalty of weaken (when it isn't just stripping GS) is bigger than the benefit of GS. Which is usually how things should be, IMO. You can get GS without question. The person casting weaken has to get through enchants and is wasting time in a fight casting that. |

Probably because lower values of str do not give as much of a bonus as higher values of str do. |
