For normal hits I don't notice a difference.
For big hitting stuff like rogue abilities I take way less damage. (from various testing)
For higher damage spells it doesn't seem to do anything.
It's confusing.

I've noticed this too, and wouldn't mind finding out if the damage reduction from sanc has been nerfed/removed. |

I played around with this a bit. It does -seem- that sanctuary does not reduce damage anymore. Not as it used to, anyway. |

Sanctuary shouldn't reduce damage in the first place but even if it does, characters who perform an attack by "ANY" means should immediately lose the effect. That includes assisting in combat, using offensive scrolls, staves or casting mass destruction spells like HW. |

My biggest problem with sanctuary is the "you need to break it every time you cast a spell at it" thing. Sanctuary should affect groups - once the group has penetrated the sanctuary, everyone in the group should break through it automatically. |

There hasn't been any intentional changes to sanctuary in at least a year. Since the time we changed how protective spells take effect after armor. |

Wouldn't this be a ramification of the damage reduction after armor reduction change? |
