What if Shamans and hellions (one a holy magic user, other dark magic) got the ability to create etherealish weapons? Not like a HoL, of course, but a cursed (can't remove, can't uncurse) weapon of limited enchants, with no special damage types, that grows in power as the shaman/hellion gains power. For instance, shamans could create their own axes, hellions could create their own unearthly swords. Such weapons would take no concentration, rot upon death, and be nontransferrable.

I'm not in favor of this for one major reason: If this were going into effect, it would make absolutely no sense whatsoever for it not to be also given to paladins and priests, and neither of those classes need this buff.

I do see what you mean - I'd originally saw this as sort of a dark/spiritistic sort of thing, but if there really WAS going to be a holy equivalent - well, they can just join a certain cabal.

...As opposed to the shaman/hellion being able to join any of the dark/grey cabals and also have this? Yeah, not really feelin' that.

None that I'm aware of, nor was it implied that there is any. They have their own set of abilities and spells, which would be granted in addition to this ability/spell that would exist for all hellions/shamans whether in a cabal or not...whereas the proposed solution to the imbalance of granting this to shaman and hellions is "join that specific cabal that lets you summon the holy equivalent." A solution which, frankly, is ridiculous since not all priests and paladins are conceptually a fit for that cabal, nor should they be.

Also agreed. I was trying to say that I was reminded of the Elder Scrolls version of this spell - which is tied more into necromancy than anything else.

Necromancers should be able to craft energy weapons with negative type damage based upon their level.

Seriously. That'd be actually nice, because then they could arm their undead with time-rot weapons.

I actually don't mind this idea, as long as the weapons are zappy to anyone not of the undead race, and that the weapons are similar to the old animate dead code...Meaning, one-time mana/concentration cost and then rot after a given length of time.

As long as someone with death shroud can touch them too.
