Could Grey aura NPCs be requestable from by any alignment, but rather than just giving the item over they offer you a value for it. If you pay for it then you can have the item.

White auras can then get the item without fear of alignment breaking (or still kill it if they wish) and Dark/Grey can do as they please... either pay or kill.

This would keep the troops of SK happy.

If it was meant to be on a lightie then the item would have been on a lightie NPC. If a greybie wants it just kill/stun the guy for it. I say leave it as it is.

A barter command would be interesting. It should be available to everyone and a check based on charisma vs wisdom with success reducing the cost and failure increasing the cost. There should be lag. The cost should be astronomical. Haggle would of course apply.

Why astronomical? It should be worth precisely what it can be sold for in that nation, and more cha = less cost, less cha = more cost.

Lag proportionate to actually buying an item should apply.

I think there should be lag, this is not like buying a normal item. The lag represents the 'conversation' between you and the owner and the owner deciding what price he wishes for.

The price should be more than the value of the item. These are grey auras, the aren't doing you a favour, but rather seeing an opening to make some cash and they have something you want, so they will charge a premium for it.

And if you lack charisma and haggle, you're going to pay a lot more than you would otherwise.

Fair point, but I think the base value you should be slightly inflated that is all.

I think it's interesting to come up with an idea for a certain alignment to give away their items, worts.

Mostly because they're grouped under the name "selfish". :D

This is why the cost would be astronomical.
