After the code changes to the xp and leveling system, I think that energy drain is rendered useless to any player with some ooc sense of good sport. I feel it would benefit everyone if it was changed to a spell that absorbs hit points, mana and physical endurance from the victim, even transporting some to the caster. That way, necromancers get a spell that potentially helps them with their leveling and gives them their needed boost without ruining the game for others. |

sounds like a better version of a adept spell |

I agree that edrain should be replaced with something else - if not because it's just lame, then because grays/lighties have nothing which is even remotely as vindictive on a ooc basis. |

I wholeheartily support this idea. |

I must say I agree as well, especially in the light of a recent spur of vindictive (my opinion) use of this spell. |

Energy drain has already been wimped once. I think some of you may be forgetting Holy Word.. which is available to both paladins and priests, and essentially destroys the entire arsenal of a necromancer. Besides, what's a little exp loss here and there? Necromancers are masters of diabolic tactics.. I think it makes sense. One holy word to a necromancer and draining your exp is going to be the last thing on his mind, seeing your army literally be obliterated by one spell is usually a good excuse to recite that scroll of finger of death and then get the hell out. |

I disagree, one tick of XP at GM, or something in those whereabouts is if not a "big" deal, then at least a deal... |

There is... every other class in the game that doesn't get holy word, and sometimes a friendly priest/paladin is hard to come by. Hell, SOMETIMES some people just might want to go 1v1 with a necro... ![]() sleeper |

I was levelling my rogue at Mentor 5 trying to get to master 1 in a place with some necro NPCs. They conned tough match to me and it was the last place I could solo train. So it was going slow since there wasn't a lot of players on (Bout 8ish or so maybe a few more) And not enough for a group. One of those NPCs E-drained me after my horse somehow died. it took me from 2/3rds to beginning second half which took me about...two hours to acquire due to the number of NPCs / spawn rate. Needless to say this is a bit upsetting if an NPC casts it. I for one agree. It should drain HP / ME / PE or something. Maybe all 3, but draining one's EXP is just..Not right..Exp loss through death is bad enough if you have to reincarnate (Rare i know but hey, it happens). Last thing we need is a bunch of necros PC or NPC taking our exp. |
