 Post subject: Siege crossbows

They need to lack range. They should only work from 1 room away and not outdoors to balance the damage/speed they are given, they're way too overpowered now as a spec especially coming from the masses of giants that are being made to exploit it.

An interesting nerf, really. I had never thought of wimping range as a viable option.

The ordinary crossbows are worth mention, too. Rips away stone skins faster and the damage is equally ridiculous.

The damage/speed is fine in room, but the range on the suckers is just silly. Whenever you have a sudden spike in specialization among the giant mercenary class, odds are, it is an unintended exploit in the oversight of the various combinations of subtypes and skills.

Another nerf would be remove giants as a race :wink: That or just not have a crossbow damage vs size change as much. That is if there is no strength bonus with crossbows if there is just remove that.

I am pretty sure the size is just the issue... Imagine having a bolt the size of a fence pole sticking out of your chest, fired by a crossbow weighing more than 60lbs.

Another issue is that siege weapons dont do half as much damage same size. They do the same damage as a medium crossbow.

I'm not sure limiting range is the answer. The damage dealt to third rank is enormous and undermines the use of reach weapons.

I think the size:damage ratio needs to be the appropriate wimp moreso than the range. In all honesty, most fights with xbows take place in the same room so reducing the range isn't an effective solution.
