Anyone in a tribunal or cabal can use them. My question is why does a giant using a crossbow which is mobile and about three times more useful do more damage per hit and is quicker than siege weapons ?

Also side question why do murder holes give you no advantage other than keeping your foe at range? Against a foe with a range weapon or attack they seem to do nothing for you.

you know, you don't -have- to stand in front of the murder holes. Those are so your ranged people can shoot them down first and for really no other reason.

I always thought that murder holes should give you some sort of cover bonus to just negate the damage. Even with magic, the caster can target the person incorrectly and just have it splash harmlessly against the wall(AOE's on the other hand would still splash into the room but not be centered there).

For people like necromancers and barbarians that have no ranged capability, siege weapons are great.

Also, you might think they don't hurt but they do.

Have you tested it with mastered siegecraft?

You can't master siegecraft, because trying to is classified as "bug abuse" and if you get caught you'll get penalized.

Mode stun vs random NPC is bug abuse ?
I do find it funny that barbs being the only class with no access to range weapons are the best users of siege craft because of Fury.

It has to do with the method that's required.

There are ways to do it that are not bug abuse.

Pulling enemies to the front door or anywhere they can't attack you but you can attack them is bug abuse and you will be cursed. I don't like it, but it was said quite some time ago.

Thuban and I have both made ways that siegecraft could be mastered by practice. Neither seems to have gotten much use, because I agree that they are underpowered when compared to a giant mercenary specialized in siege crossbow. The damage should be on par or better than that because of the limitations of ballista and catapult.
