Ranged combat

It didn't suck, though the only person that bothered with it was Inzaarid for a looooooooong time.

It was good for what it was good for back in the day. Now it's just ridiculous.

As it is now, it deals the same, if not more, damage than many other two-handed weapons. Add to that cocktail that it can reach any rank, not to mention a room or two and it's no wonder it's ridiculously popular.

I'm not so much sure that it deals more damage as it is that the damage is more guarenteed. IE, you don't have defensive capabilities kicking in to counter it like parry and shield block.

As already mentioned, its non-parryable, no shield block, and dodge doesn't seem to work as well (if at all). So yeah... it does way to much damage... Thats just IMO.

The reason your getting owned by ranged combat is that you have no idea how to fight it.

The -only- time I have ever died to ranged combat it was Dymytry...but I was also going toe to toe with a GM fist paladin at the time unspelled.

Everytime I've had people shoot at me I've escaped besides that.

Your all just losing because it is multiple-archers at a time with haste to chew through you quickly..

...or..

...you arn't smart enough to know how to combat it.

Even if you do learn how to combat it, I'll still be brutalizing with me other spec.

God what whiners...

Oh, Ardith, it did suck.

Thats part of the reason they wimped shields.

Arrows simply deflected.

The reason I picked crossbow is because in the help file it says it punchs through armor.

I took that as thinking they allowed something like finesse to negate armor protection.

Perhaps thats what your complaing about.
