Can we get a verification on if intimidate and sanctuary are checked when the following skills are used:

bard chords
damage songs
taunt
brandish
recite
zap
cone of cold (group targeted)
flamestrike (targeted at group)
Shooting arrows at the target
ambush skill
and holy word?

I've done some testing, and most things on this list do not get checked against intimidate and I doubt any get checked against sanctuary that don't get checked by intimidate. Which allows for certain twinking in pk situations.

This isn't GD, either post something conducive to the argument, or don't post at all.

Any AOE spell will not check for sanctuary and intimidation, it only makes sense. I shoot a fireball in a room, whoever is in there will be hit. I can tell you for sure that Holy Word can bypass intimidation.
I also recall that shooting an Intimidating Hellion from a distance, may it be magic missile, arrows, flamestrike etc. will not check for intimidate but WILL check for sanctuary something that again, makes sense.

It's in the helpfile that intimidate doesn't work against ranged combat.

[Skills help] intimidate

Automatic

The hellion's powerful unholy presence manifests itself as a supernatural
fear once this skill is learned. Anyone attempting to attack the hellion or
his allies must overcome his fearsome presence or cower before him. The
would be assailant will not be able to attempt another attack on the hellion
or his allies until he has first regained his nerve.

Hellions can only intimidate opponents that are within melee range.

I don't think intimidate should work against group spells, but I do think taunt should be affected, if it isnt already.

It doesn't make much sense that you're too afraid to attack someone, but you have no problem shouting insults at him.

Intimidate works for anyone in the hellion's group, so it should work against group spells targetting that hellion's group as well.

I think taunt should be affected by both intimidate and sanctuary as well. If they aren't now, it would be a good way to start dumbing down that skill a little.

I've always seen breaking sanctuary and intimidate as the greatest parts of taunt. Sure, the skill -may- be a bit overpowered, but this would pretty much defeat the purpose of the skill IMHO. Without taunt, people who constantly hold sanc or hellions with high CHA will be even more untouchable. I can't tell you how many times I used a cheap sanc ring with Xavien to decide when I felt like fighting. Half the time people would try to attack me I'd simply walk away. I would say I laughed at them, but I was really more scared than anything.

I still think it makes sense that you are able to insult a hellion or priest so that they get in a rage and drop their guard. Think about how many movies you've seen where once the bully is confronted with words, they get all ragey and screw up. I mean, I might not want to attack them for fear of them having the high ground, but that doesn't mean I'm so scared that I refuse to even try and taunt them into making a mistake.

As far as the rest goes, I can see where some should overlook the spell/skill, and some shouldn't. Anything that directly attacks the Hellion/Sanced person without generalizing the room while in the same room should be checked. Sanc should probably still be checked by range stuffs due to the nature of the spell, but yeah.
