Should Priests Loose Shield Block and gain Enhanced Damage
Yes, I never see priests in front row and I never see them use shields 10%  10%  [ 3 ]
No, just because you are in second or third rank doesn't mean you don't need a shield if priests choose not to use on that's their fault 77%  77%  [ 23 ]

Pole-mace is alright for low-level training, but once you get spear of faith, you're better off spam casting that.

In PK, priests don't rely on dealing melee damage. Priests are almost always in the middle/back rows or behind a pet when solo. When the person in the front row drops, or when someone with a reach weapon targets you, holding a shield could extend your life long enough for you to be rescued or flee.

Additionally, shields can be stacked with just as many 'enchant armors' as any other piece of armor. It makes sense to have a shield with lots of enchants on it to carry around just in case.

Exactly. Also, priests don't need to wield a weapon. So it's easy to wear a shield in one hand and hold a stave/scroll in the other. That's what I've seen -most- priests do (I've seen a few that wear certain weapons for RP reasons or for scripts). The more I think about it, the more I think that shield block is a fine skill for priests to have.

Well from the look of the numbers on the poll people want Shield block on priests. So, it really looks like I was off the mark here.

Does shield block still block arrows?

If I was a priest I'd sure as hell use a shield regardless, it reduces overall damage taken even if you don't block with it. It also gives priests a chance in the front row.

Vaodan tanked the wastelands for a group I was in once. Aacheron did the same with Sklz grouped NPCs in the Blasted Chancel. A fully energy/ada clad priest with good enchants and a shield, along with all their defensive spells is one [REDACTED] of a character to bring down.

Even if you did get rid of shield block, replacing it with edamage makes absolutely no sense. I'd rather hold a shield, and a scroll/stave instead of a weapon and a scroll/stave. Even with edamage you're not killing anything with 2 attacks.

If shield block is taken away they should get dodge if anything. (assuming they don't already have it, it's been a while since I looked at their abilities)

Priests are a defensive caster class. Upgrading their melee damage just doesn't make any sense. Losing shield and gaining edamage = nerf. You level faster by hitting things maybe, but it isn't really worth it.

Every time I see a Wert Option in a poll, it warms the cockles of my heart.

Maybe even deeper than the cockles. Maybe in the sub-cockle area.

I guarantee you he's not wearing the psi rod to beat people over the head with. More likely for the great magical resistance and mana regen on it.

If anything that just reinforces the point that shield block should stay with priests, since the only reason he's wearing that staff is for it's passive effects, much like one would use a shield. Had he found a shield with mana regen on it, I guarantee you he'd be wearing that instead.
