Vet will always be vet and know where the loot is. Nothing can ever change that. We just need to have the noob become semi-noobs and kill the vets!

The fiction is that people get dehoarded by "thieves". So it makes sense to have an increased chance of having your item stolen if you aren't actually wearing it. I guess it all comes down to whether people value their second weapon more than the possibility of making it impossible for hoarders to keep all their extraneous loot.

I'm just saying D, that your solution is a blanket punishment for all players and not one that specifically targets hoarders. While it will hit hoarders harder, I don't think you should punish -everyone- for the actions of fewer people than I can count on one hand.

I also don't really see what the huge deal is. I've pretty much seen all these characters in action that everyone is whining about. It's not really as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I've seen melithindlee in multiple pk's. Heldorian is out and about a lot when he is active and you can't fault someone for real life making them inactive. Ghent CONSTANTLY handed out loot as he has done with ALL his characters. Actually, the only person I ever had even the slightest bit of annoyance over for holding lewt was DA and his shaman but only because I couldn't get him to pk with me unless the odds were highly in his favor. As grakus has attested though (I think in another thread maybe) DA does help his tribunal out and I've seen him help others out with getting stuff so it's not like he's anything to really complain about either.

Pretty much most of the complaints about these people have derived from parties whom they didn't help for ic reasons. A hammer sorceror is not going to hand out lewt to the adept leader. I've never had any trouble IC with any lighty or darkie "hoarder" when I asked them to help me get equipped when it was aura appropriate rp. All of them have been more than happy to hand out things that help me and others.

As far as the complaint about lewt being saved up in HQs...that's absolutely rediculous. Outer guardians can pretty easily be taken down and then all you have to do is run in and jack all the lewt. If anything, I encourage people to try to hoard stuff in their hqs...makes it easier to get.

And I also don't care when players hold on to a lot of stuff. A long long time ago I learned that it was far easier on sk to let someone get things for me and just pk them for it. I don't have the time or the inititive to run to the iron citadel and face hours of dying and getting rez'd again and all that running around and prepartion that is needed to kill the GGI. I do have 30 minutes though to go crush the group that killed him and take all the lewt from them when they return. Which is exactly what happened IC several months back. Someone needs to go get me the infernal halberd again btw.

Bottom line is, if someone has something that you want GO TAKE IT AWAY FROM THEM. No one is immune on sk, ever. We have ways to scry locations, ways to kill ethereal people, ways to nuke any person, anywhere, at any time. How in the world can people complain about hoarding given the present condition of sk is beyond me. I also know imms actively junk hoards of loot they find lying around on the ground or buried so that's no excuse either.

I can't believe how immature a lot of you act with this stuff. It's a freaking game. If you can't have one shiny, you get another one. You don't have more right to any lewt than anyone else does whether you're the "hoarder" or the person QQ'ing over hoarding. It's all equal oppurtunity and kill or be killed.

You could give rogues an ability called "cut purse"

Effectively, this would destroy a worn container and spill everything into the inventory. There'd be a 50% chance for each item to fall directly onto the ground.

Or instead of destroying a container it temporarily "disables" the container, emptying it of the contents until the container is repaired at a tailor. (assign a cutpurse flag to the container which can only be removed by a tailor or blacksmith until which time the container is considered closed an unopenable).

This would make rogues far better thieves and able to dehoard people far easier. You can't even go ethereal and escape it since rogues can just recite a scroll.

I like it. Make it so.

it wouldn't have to actually degrade the durability of the container, just make it empty and permanently closed until a tailor removed the effect.

Don't complain to Dulrik anymore, sheesh, we're quite possibly about to have the stupidest change possible due to this thread.

I agree with Mordy. No more de-hoarding tweaks, please.

Peace,
Bux

I would rather not have a hard-coded version. I think it could be done with a mini-imm. No powers of anything. Just an OOC creation that goes about handing out punishments to hoarders and bad rpers.

I didn't say I was planning to do it. That was just my suggestion that made IC sense. Apparently people would rather live with hoarders.
