Just like to point out that I'd -never- play a deep-elf here. And if I were to play a necromancer (which I won't, that class is an abomination now), it would be a human, hands down.

There's nothing on this mud that could make me play a deep-elf for any class. Not sorcerer, not warlock, not necromancer, not hellion, not scout, not swash, not anything.

But I would play an elven warlock, or an elven bard, or an elven paladin, or an elven sorcie.

But not as a deep-elf. I don't like insta-dying to everything.

Natch. Same here. I said previously I felt deep-elves compare well with elves. I didn't say I'd play one. I'll never touch a deep-elf again after Xull.
Even with 24 int taunt destroyed my characters ability to function in any way. Flaring lights swords killed me so fast I doubt I could brandish or recite anything more then once.

There's nothing a deep-elf can do on SK that a human wouldn't be a better choice for. I have a half-elf right now but that is completely motivated by my desire for a long term character so I don't have to level another. Comparing a human to a helf sorc human wins in my opinion.

To any noobies out there if you're just starting the game make a human. They have great stats across the board, no weaknesses at all, and they get a very nice + 3 to the main stat of their class. Over all best race there is for anything in my opinion.

The only thing is they age in about 3 months if you play alot. Three or four they don't live long so you can expect your stats to drop relatively fast compared to a helf or elf or something.

Faerie fire is damn near useless for a fighter class and Faerie fog is only usefull if your sitting in an Inn.

No, that's not true. Any deep-elf fighter that can trip has time to use faerie fire. You can use it on a rogue so he can't hide and sneak. On a swash so he can't sneak. It reduces magical protection too. It's not useless. It's under used.

I would gladly trade faerie fire or faerie fog for a couple of points of con and especially the fact that deep-elves who live to damn near triple the age of a human would not be as wise!? Absurd

No it's not absurd. Just because they live a tremendously long time doesn't give them a greater wisdom. Some people just aren't capable of certain things. Perhaps their culture and lifestyle inhibits their wisdom in ways a humans does not. There's a lot of reasons why a deep-elf wouldn't reach the same capability as a human in a lot of ways.

Same with constitution they are physically not as robust and healthy as humans. It's genetic. It's like a coyote and bear. They are both canine but one is far stronger then the other. Deep-elves tend to be frail.

Unless I'm mistaken not only do deep-elves get one less point of con they get less dex too which makes since I suppose but deep-elves according to the help files unless they are just special are tortured and mistreated as a fact of life just because they are weaker than their neighbor if this isn't an example of Darwinian society then what is so only the strong survive there well then why aren't deep-elves stronger? faster? more durable? smarter? And elves who live in a passive society playing defense aren't weaker? slower? less durable? Technically every deep-elf goes through 100 years of torture before he's let out the gate. Elves go through a hundred years of what? loving families and school playing with the sprites of Elisair?

None of this has any merit at all. Just because elves aren't cruel or hurtful doesn't mean they don't engage in sport or competition. Just because they aren't evil doesn't mean they sit on their butts all day. Elves aren't passive either. They fight wars against deep-elves just look at Fort Tethos.

Just because elves don't have a whip running across their backs doesn't mean they don't race through the forest fast as lightning. Climb, jump, run, shoot bows, swim. Just because people are peaceful doesn't make them weak.

Deep-elves should be something more than your everyday pale-skinned wuss they should have an affinity for pain almost to the point of being able to ignore it and be at the least stronger than an elf if elves are gonna get to be faster

This in my opinion is wrong as well. People who are in pain are being hurt. If deep-elves are constantly being put the rack and beaten and tortured to me that would mean they have a myriad of injuries to their bodies that would make they less capabale then a normal person. A lifetime of torture would leave you with lots of scar tissue inhibiting your mobility, probably damaged joints, and who knows what else.

Being beaten down doesn't make you better.

Go see the movie 600, it will prove you wrong... :)
