I truly think that 'detect aura' should be removed or at least have a significant failure rate (showing an incorrect result). If you want to know someone's alignment, "know alignment" should be sufficient-- that would put it on a case-by-case basis, where it should be. Seeing every aura automatically is not necessary nor helpful to the game, and it's used as a rationale for a lot of behaviour that's highly detrimental to the game.

I'd be interested to hear what other people think about 'detect aura' as well.

I've been interested in the removal of both spells for a while, now. Or simply make know alignment a ritual sort of spell.

I respectfully disagree. In my opinion, what really kills the alignment system is the fact that no one's alignment can ever be changed, yet light-auras, principled characters in particular, are supposed to try and turn everyone from their evil ways. The only problem is that every -player- knows that such a thing is impossible, and that's what breeds most dissociation between light and dark auras, save PvP. The player of a light-aura'd character, if played correctly, is setting himself up to fail, and so as a result, most light-auras don't play to redeem dark-auras, but to destroy them.

This is quoted and bolded for truthiness.

For me, it isn't that leveling is hard. It's that it's BORING. BORING BORING BORING BORING B--*shot*

I seriously can't keep my concentration up during leveling. I start reading a book, or looking at the forums, or something along those lines, and I just completely forget about the game. Result: I spend an hour in-game, and about ten minutes of it leveling. Then I get completely bored and go off to do something more fun, like homework.

It's a shame alignments and auras can't be scrapped altogether. Then you could determine people's agendas by their actions and not their aura...Would certainly be interesting..

You would have to tell me what can be done to make leveling more interesting. Don't say 'make it quicker'. Quicker is not more interesting, it's just trying to avoid the issue. If people can really walk away while fighting and not worry about interacting with the game in order to stay alive, all that tells me is that the game is not difficult enough.

Per Peso: Would colors really help? It sounds like a joke, but I could see it being a valid suggestion. Fight spam scrolls by very fast, so sometimes only colors have time to register. A better color scheme might help people to react better to combat and thereby boost interest.

No, I was serious, colors makes it more fun, make NPCs while fighting do random actions/ like bleed, yodel, and other such things. It'd be fun.
