Is the Summon spell fine as it is?
Poll ended at Wed Sep 28, 2005 1:29 pm
Sure, it's the best way to kill someone. Fun, too (for the one who does it). 18%  18%  [ 7 ]
It is OK, but wouldn't mind PK demanding and involving more than that. 38%  38%  [ 15 ]
No, it's not. "You deserve to die if you can get summoned" sounds like an excuse for people to use it whenever possible to me. 44%  44%  [ 17 ]

Please, Dulrik, switch the limits of gate and summon, let us have some fun! Like summons, gates should be able to goto PCs in the same zone with willpower save check.

While the majority will complain "(insert random Radamanthys imitation here) a large group summoned me in Nerina and ganked me, damn, I had no chance at all... omg where is the RP? Imma whine on the forums. "

Only the minority would complain "(insert more Radamanthys imitation here) a large group gated to me in Nerina and ganked me, my buddies and guards all together, and that was a good display of tactics. Sure, we died, and lost loot, but they did fight in my terms and won fairly, prepared group vs group combat is where it's at for SK."

Until Dulrik makes further changes to summon and gate, the playerbase cannot help but to spam summon + gank Rad's char(s) so that he keeps up the useful feedback on these spells. :p

Sorry, but, it wasn't even me getting summoned this time. I haven't been successfully summoned since before my previous character. Not that you'd bother asking first, right?

Who are you anyway "Minette"? I'd appreciate identifying yourself and not using your happy-go-lucky character's name in the forums after taking it up personal with me.

Please try to actually support your opinions in this thread, not just be a mocking 10-year old. From your post, I cannot understand if you disagree or finally agree with some changes being made, but you still don't want to openly admit it. No matter what you say, getting ganked in a group, with a guard or two, by another group -does- require more brains and skill than summon kills. I see that most people believe that as well.

Doesen't that make yourself the prime example of the fact that summon in fact is not overpowered... If you enchant for it, and have some skills at running off... I mean, you still need that sick willpower for a bunch of other leet spells...stack it...how hard can it be? I've only been summoned once on my last like five characters, and at that point I didn't die even though they were like 4 harlies on my mc rogue, one of the missed a bash, I was out of there, and I was well out of their summon range once they got their asses together enough to resummon... Easy...

Nope, I haven't even received an attempt yet.

25 willpower is not immunity. Thats the equivolent of 11 willpower before the art changes, and summon can be spammed until you get it to work without any real fear. And since "the next room" can be anywhere in the vnum block (say, all of Exile, or half of a nation's wilderness) you don't have to be terribly close.

Coming back to the post again, I did go overboard with being personal and name-calling. Sorry.

To have implied that you, Radamanthys, may have a distinct history of taking game issues to the forums was also uncalled for.

If the post was vague, I was suggesting that summon gank is lame, and would like to see changes to it akin to the spell gate.

And I like my happy-go-lucky halfling, thanks.

*mutters* I'll be damned, misunderstandings -do- actually happen. Okay, thanks for clearing it up, I was almost certain of the opposite.

I have never been successfully summoned ever and I have never tried to summon anyone in the past 1,5 years.

It is one of the spells that bother me when I get endless attempts and the cheapest pk tactic next to getting voodooed by strangers with no rp.

There are groups of people that have stopped using such cheap tactics and go for the more enjoyable and admirable "in your face" tactic. Much respect to them and hope it spreads around the rest of the playerbase.

First of all, D said there is not such thing as total immunity in SK. That was his plan when he implemented art. I had a giant scout before art and with mediocre enchantments nothing could touch me.

Now, with 25-30 will, a semi decent WIS(18?) it's not so easy to be summoned in first attempt. If you are stupid enough and sit there while you get summon attempts and don't go hide, you deserve to die. If you want to sit there, put some effort and get like 50 will on your EQ.

You ppl say summon is so overpowered, but so is FoD against 0 fort enchants. Prepare your EQ, have no fear. It's simple as that.

You have time to react to FoD. Even if it's as simple as "north", "flee", "trip", "taunt", or "recall".

It's not overpowered, that's true. But you are all taking the chances of someone having the greatest willpower protection ever, which is going to happen less often than a -constant- max art for a summoner.

Anyway, I'll have to experience more of it myself. Perhaps, if it often takes more than one attempt to succeed, it's not that bad.

Summon kills are not risk free. If you are close enough to them to summon one, they are close enough to you to one of you.

With Mortimor I used to log in and summon every single member of the Calrion religion and kill them. Summon was broken then, when you could get anyone, from anywhere, pretty much any time.

Summon has been tamed so much that I agree with then 'If you can be summoned you deserve to die' litegy.
