And on that note, should the sling stones crumble after one use?

I've just spent 5 minutes digging to kill one sewer rat then all the stones I retrieved crumbled.

:(

Until you dig them up, sling stones are part of the ground, so you can't see them with detect buried. Stones that you dig up should not crumble. Are you sure that they weren't stones thrown at you by someone else?

All of my dug stones were crumbling earlier today.

Peace,

Like so:

Those were two stones I'd just slung at a NPC, then fell out of the corpse. About one or two ticks later, they crumbled.

Peace,

That's a hard one to fix, I think. The stones are death-rot items, so the NPC dying sets off the rot timer.

It is really annoying though, spend 10 minutes digging for 1 minutes throwing.

I also noticed that stones, being made of stone go down to superb after one use against flesh...

Couldn't they be made to behave more like fletched items?

Peace,

Well, I suppose they COULD, but that makes things difficult. I'd suppose D's design was that the stones thrown by NPCs would death-rot/timer-rot, and the stones that a pc throws are the same item (I'd expect builders to know what I'm talking about more-so than players at this point, so if I lose anyone that's okay) - if pc-stones are going to be treated like fletched items, that requires a completely different object to be made to satisfy the non-rotting specs. At least, it is the way I'm thinking about it being done.

And Tum - the same happens to arrows. After you use them once, they go down to superb. But they do stay at superb for a while.

If they're recycling vnums for the stones, then it's probably easy enough to find a new one.

Speaking of which... Builders, a few new slings, shovels and stones for sale, when you get the chance? Particularly shovels? Bakemono shovels changed to be real shovels? Shovels of hardier material, if material determines how soon they wear out? Shopkeeps selling stones and slings of the same size in newbie areas? A magical sling which generates its own nifty stones, somewhere suitably hard to get to?

Tummy, let me know how that merc sling spec works out for you.

Peace,
Bux
