"How do you kill that which has no life?”

But seriously, how does one expect to have these hoarders ganked when they barely play enough to keep their EQ. And I'm positive that wouldn't solve the overall problem, considering there will still be hoarders. The only cure is a punishment, and it's doubtful that will occur.

What if I play a Hammer character and I see a certain other Hammer character, or Fist character with things they shouldn't be carrying. Do I go out of my way to break RP because I don't agree with them OOC? The answer is no, but now I see why the playerbase in this game is the reason many stop playing when you all have ideas such as that.

This is a really funny thread if you're one of the people who recently played one of those Nal'thuk people.

With, I think, my second character way way back, Alshain (or Calrion at the time?) popped in to say hi, and had a friendly word about getting rid of some of the junk I was carrying. I've always felt there was nothing wrong with that. And at the time I had NOTHING compared to the lists of crap other folk had.

Anyhow, this is not an issue. Much bigger is the problem of poorly RP'd pkill excused by a "they'd just run away if I RP'd" attitude.

Trouble is, as much as such kills CAN be justified, it pushes anyone with any desire to stay alive away from mingling and mixing. For three months I managed to have a character who, despite obviously being dark-aura'd, could engage in discussions with almost anyone on the mud. Then bang comes along some newly rolled and pleveled character out of nowhere who kills me and loots without a word - justifed by a "I am crusader - you are evil" attitude when I later contacted him.

You can rest assured I no longer go anywhere or do anything where I don't have a decent to certain chance of getting away if attacked, which essentially means I don't spend half as much time just meeting folk, and don't interact with anyone but "friendlies" when I am on my laggy home connection.

Now as much as some may not like me or my characters, when many people take the same attitude that IS to the detriment of the mud.

I truly think that 'detect aura' should be removed or at least have a significant failure rate (showing an incorrect result). If you want to know someone's alignment, "know alignment" should be sufficient-- that would put it on a case-by-case basis, where it should be. Seeing every aura automatically is not necessary nor helpful to the game, and it's used as a rationale for a lot of behaviour that's highly detrimental to the game.

I'd be interested to hear what other people think about 'detect aura' as well.

I like it: It breeds conflict if used correctly, which is something that I think keeps the game interesting.

Oh, and all you people who voted that leveling is hard need to man up. It's MEGA easy.

I don't think it's the biggest problem we're encountering, but it is an interesting theory. One for a different thread. :P

Thank you!

I agree there are more important problems, and I hadn't realised it had already been discussed (in great detail).

I've been interested in the removal of both spells for a while, now. Or simply make know alignment a ritual sort of spell.
