I'll agree with adding more quests with differing rewards with one caveat.

Don't make them mandatory to GM. A char can never outwit the player of said char and some people (read me) suck at quests.

I think quests are a great way to enjoy the game without grinding away at levels. And you get the benefit of ticks too!

I think there should be quests that activate some skills or abilities.

For example: You're a priest wanting to learn resurrection. Instead of just going to a NPC and getting it, you could get to a certain NPC of your religion, he would give you a quest, etc etc...

Of course, this would take a lot of time to make, but...

Also, not all quests should be available to anyone. I'm kinda sick of seeing evil ppl doing good quests just to get the exp benefit.

My suggestion: Alignment-specific quests, class-specific quests.

Here's an idea: The mercenary's guild in teron could turn into a more beleivable mercenary's guild by offering a few quests for mercs, such as helping to guard NPCs that will travel from teron to exile, nerina, etc. (I also think there should be a noteboard outside the merc guild for other ppl to post notes to hire mercs, but eh well)

On that concept, there could also be some NPCs in each area that would give an array of quests, like yvette in taslamar, she could have a list of quests for youngsters to do in order to help with the city's problems, from rats to criminals.

While I like the idea, I'm afraid that would be too much work at this stage to consider realistically. I think that if more quests are to be implemented they should be targetted at the widest array of chars as possible to increase their usage. After people are content with the amount of level based quests out there, then I think we can focus on more tailored quests.

Basically, if an IMM has time to write one quest, and it's a choice between a merc or darkie only quest versus a gray quest that can be done on anyone, I would implore them to do the latter.

Garazul has a nice example of alignment specific quests.

Garazul has some nice quests, but the problem is accessibility. By the time you're doing quests in garazul you're usually high enough level to already be a player on the global power scene.

My intent here is to create quests that are specifically targetted for levels below master.

I fully agree with the idea. The frustrating part is that not only do I agree with it, but I've been actively pushing it among the imm staff for the last couple of years. Algorab HAS been doing this with Taslamar and I think that's one big reason why people have been giving her props as a KD.

Yea, I hate to sound like a brown noser but Taslamar is looking good. The morea tunnels are good. the orchards, it's just really good work.
