I could level a character to level 20 in about five hours. Maybe six. After that it gets harder. I'd say to get those next twenty levels will take me at least a hundred hours. I don't think we could make it much easier on lower levels. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong, I've found leveling has only gotten easier for me in recent years. That doesn't mean I level any faster. Vylkes had almost 500 hours before she was a GM.

Please note that the hour examples I posted are levelling hours. If you opt for RP or exploration or whatever else your hard desires (which I whole-heartedly applaud) and end up levelling in 500+ hours instead, please don't come saying that levelling takes a long time.

And no, levelling in the first levels is not hard and slow, just tedious and repetitive.

I think the answer to this problem is not X2 on the experience gained, but rather more quests.

Plus with quests, you can use them to help the player explore. You can use gather and delivery quests at around Apprentice and up. Having one particular NPC send the character out all over a particular kingdom. That way the character can learn the locations of many of the caves, temples, dungeons and such just by having a quest that sends them there.

Also, for Mentor and up, you can have tribunal NPCs give out quests to kill guards/NPCs from a kingdom that the tribunal is at war with. Those types of quests can also be used for recruiting. Same with Cabal NPCs giving out quests to harass and deal with opposing cabals. Now I am not talking about just for members of said cabal/tribunal, but for any who wish to "help" their cause.

With the combined experience of fulfilling the quests and the experience learned along the way I think would be a huge step towards improving this situation.

These are just quests I can think of where OOC knowledge is not really a factor, so there could be multiple ones in each kingdom.

On that note, how feasible is it for someone to write up some sort of quest for SK, and submit it to the IMM's, or implement it themselves? I'm all in favor of more quests, but don't quite have the cahones to demand more of them from the IMMstaff.

I didn't think it was so much a demand as a solution to a common problem. I am more then willing to help make quests and help play test them. I have many many many ideas for quests.

With your level of role play Othet, I am sure you have quite a few up your sleeve as well.

I have always looooooooved the answer of quests to just about any problem with leveling (too slow, too boring, etc.) The only problem with making too many more is that there needs to be some way to cap off the level at which you can do these really simple quests, or at least cap off the reward.

It is always ridiculous to see near-GMs doing quests that come from newbie schools, but it still stands as the best way to get those last few levels. So, people continue to do it.

A script that has the NPC consider the level would be nifty, though, in some cases. The darkie/grebie NPC handing out the quest could be untrusting of sending out someone so strong to do something so simple and tell them "What would you be wasting your time with this for? Trying to get me comfortable so you can stab me in the back? Be gone with ye." And a lightie could instead direct a higher level character to someone else who needs more help like "I couldn't possibly take up your time with a matter this trivial. I'll just send one of the younger men or women. XXX could probably use your help, though. They reside in YYY. Tell them you are here to *aid*."

Two times the exp. might be a little harsh, but some lowbie centered quests would really break up the monotony of the grind and force people to use them when they are able rather than save them.

Doubling quest/reward XP would be a nice change. Why not reward the people who explore and RP!

I think we should have bonus experience weekends and events.
