Take away locating corpses by name, and priests will be the laughing stock of SK. Anyone will be able to lie his butt off for a rez, the priest having nothing but his word to go on.

If your problem is carrion bird-type pc's who wait for someone to die and then go ninja his loot, i'll just say this tactic can get them killed if you're smart enough.

We need to use ninja-loot more often. No, that's not a part of this topic, but it is a good term.

First. I'd just like to ask: What does any of the past page or two have anything to do with the names on corpses?

Second. Grakus, aren't you insinuating without proof? The very thing that you constantly spout as something like gossip-whoring or whatever you call it when it is directed at you. Off to General Discussion with this.

Third: To bring this back to the discussion the thread is supposed to take, I'd like to see adjectives of the person attached to the corpse if they aren't identified or greeted. The corpse of a lively male gnome lies here. Honestly, who wouldn't want to see something that?

This thread makes me want to beat my head on my desk. Especially since Thran is hijacking his own thread and is practically forcing it to become ridiuclous. Mystra obviously doesn't agree with you, there's hardly a reason to burn her for that.

So yeah, PC corpses. I think that Thran does have a point there. Why would one know who the corpse belongs to just by locating it? If one has never met the victim, the body should be appearing as that of a random __ (enter race/sex). I've also never quite understood why one can get the name of people through their severed limbs.

It's a typical case of RP > mechanics.

I like the idea of, if you haven't greeted them, you just see their adjective.
Seems like them steak collectors would have a hay-day.

The only thing I think that should be changed is when you butcher or skin a corpse of ANYTHING it should display the race of what was butchered and not the name of the creature.

Make all corpses and body parts show race only. Steaks should at most show race. Skins should show the adjective and race.

Steaks = race. Can you tell friend or foe by a steak?
Skin = race or greeting. A fresh Peso skin would still look like Peso.
Body parts = race only, no greeting. Can ID/locate/lore and of course craft a doll out of them. Then the doll magically is embued with the name.
Corpse = race or greeting.
Statue = adjective + race or greeting.

Identify on any you can hold will give name.
Lore on any will give name, even statues.
Locates on any will give name.

My two coppers.

I agree with all except locate. Only corpses should show up by name.
