For people who know how to hoard, they deserve to keep the things they have. They also deserve to be ganked and looted. And also to live in paranoia. This is punishment enough.

Knowing how to play SK isnt a crime. Therefore, it shouldnt be coded out.

And what of the newbies such as myself who doesnt have a complete familiarity with where things are? Sure NPC X can have mithril Y etc. They can learn that information IC and goto retrieve it and " le gasp" it's gone!

Finding things is increasingly difficult because of hoarding and it makes it very hard on the newbies who don' thave a full grasp of the game. They feel happy bout finding something's location and goto get it only to find that there's nothing left there cause it's always been taken.

Why do you not just limit the size of the bins in the cabals and then create wiz NPCs that roam the cabals and pick up and junk any they find on the ground? I only say this because Cabals are protected by guardians thus harder to get into making hoarding easier.

That's basically been done already. The Inner Guardian junks everything in the room periodically and there is no longer any bin in that room. All you have to do to take stuff from the cabal is kill the Outer Guardian. It's never risk free to attack an HQ, but it's also not that difficult. If there is a problem, it's hoarding on characters, not hoarding in HQs.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be: hoarding "solution"?

Peace,

Following up on that though, here's an idea of mine: The chance of losing a unique item would be increased if you aren't actually wearing it. That would mean you could lose a GM item even at GM if you aren't wearing it.

I'm not a big fan D. I believe the penalties that exist are sufficient. As a warrior, I like having an extra blade, because some situations require I use that blade, instead of my default one. (e.g. Long run to wastelands, and the blade I'm using gets damaged).

If anything, perhaps add extra penalties to people who have unique items. Such penalties include the ability to be more easily summoned/gated, less chance to dodge/shield block/parry/flee.

those are all dumb.

Why should I receive a penalty for having a GM shield and One hander in my inventory because I'm rolling around with a GM crossbow or vice versa. The items are completly for seperate situations yet it's necassary that I have them all and it's not hoarding by any definition of the word even though I can't use them at the same time?

I really think that hoarding is an IC situation that should be dealt with IC. There are few to none immune zones in SK nowadays as I understand, so anyone can be found if you really want to find them.

And as Dulrik said, in order to de-hoard cabals you only need a mediocre group to take out the outer guardian + gank the possible hoarder that hides within HQs. Not all cabal raids need to be for the capture of a relic.

It's too easy not to die in SK and 'shrink' exists. That's the real problem.

Of course, players could just not be general rotten PoS's too, but that's a whole other road that won't ever be traveled.
