mm.

Well, I guarantee you, OA - if this went through, within a year, people would also want this skill to go to mercs - and then they'd want scouts to have the ability to "damp" the fire so that the smoke and light weren't so visible.

I can't see a justification for giving mercs the ability, nor do I think it would be reasonable to have scouts be able to do this "safely." It's a fairly powerful ability, giving a higher regen rate in wilderness, and as such it shoud have fairly consequential limitations/drawbacks.

EDIT: Also, the ability should require a tinderbox, or some other means of lighting fire.

Anyone can build a camp fire, and it should work to keep you warm. If there were negative consequences to being cold, then I could see the use in coding this.

negative consequences to being cold? Oh, yes. While we're coding this, let's make everyone in the northern wastes SUFFER. I mean, they already have nothing of value in Krychire. Let's give them all a penalty while we're at it.

So by the eye rolling thing I am guessing that you think people living in a frozen wasteland should not suffer? It's called the wastes for a reason- it's not a nice place to live.

Fires are for keeping warm and boiling water and seeing in the dark.

How can this be restricted to scouts when paladins, shamans, hellions, priests and warlocks all have ways of making magic or divine fire? We have tinderboxes that can be used by anyone to light a torch. Perhaps there is some skill to lighting a camp fire with just sticks and tinder, but how hard is it to light one with a torch?

Sure anyone can make a real fire. But only a scout can provide the "right herbs" to make it a "magic" fire. By that same token, anyone sitting next to a scout's fire should get spirit sight as well.

W...t...f...

"magic" fire? No, none of that. And OA - See, I told you so. And it hasn't even been a year yet.

I guess you're right GL. A shame though, since I could have seen this being an interesting skill for both benefit to a party and to PK outside of cities.

To everyone else trying to add this ability to all these other classes I have only this to say:

If SK mimicked real life to the extent you're demanding, every class would have this ability already. In fact, it would probably be innate to all characters, because who *wouldn't* know how to make a camp fire in the setting we play in? Give it up. Not every class needs a boost all at once, and not every class needs to have the abilities they might realistically be expected to have. This isn't reality, after all.

The magic camp fire should also spew magma against enemies of the fire-maker!
