So to add some potential flavor and the possibility of building a character how you want.

Redeem skill 40 lt cost per skill

Allows you to redeem any skill spell or song in the game. Can only be acquired at grandmaster and only one(two at most) skill/spell per character

A warlock with gate?

A merc that dual wields

A barb with eparry

A shaman with resurrect.

The choices are endless and it could be a way to attract people to the game/ old players to give new class combos a try

With one caveat/ restriction. No cross aura spells. Like paladin with FoD. Or hellion with bolt of glory.

I would instantly roll a barbarian with specialize and forever win SK.

I don't -entirely- hate this idea. However, I wouldn't want shamans to get resurrect or barbarians to have access to spells. These are roleplay encoded just as much as a paladin having hellion spells would be undesirable.

I also don't think a flat fee would work here. For instance, if I had this option as a bard, I'd 100% take meditate without hesitation for quality of life purposes. That shouldn't necessarily cost the same as a more powerful combination.

If it was considered, it would have to (IMO) be rolled out with weighted costs and very careful consideration.

I've seen similar ability in other games essentially allowing a player to reincarnate back to level 1 (as whatever class/race), but keep any 1 skill/spell of their choosing as they rollover. For it to work in SK, there would need to be obvious RP restrictions like Meissa mentions and area-familiarity would need to be reset. Make it a requirement that players reach level 51 (GM but ready to advance to the next level).

Otherwise I see no issue with this and I guarantee a change of this magnitude would draw a lot of players back.

It has to make sense too. Like a sorc with counterstrike? Come on.

I would just get giant strength or haste spell for my warrior.

Easiest thing to do would be to limit it severely, and basically provide them as extensions to specific qualities. More like character specialization than a free for all, and this could also open up additional paths beyond just adding a skill/spell like changing armor classes, or add-on effects like a spell caster package most classes can take that gives meditate and +X mana, or a natural warrior package for someone like a barb that could add herbalism, and provide some form of attack modification, but lowers their armor class to light armor.

I think ideas like this are cool, but the more open you make them the more impossible it is to remotely balance.

I think that anything like this would need to be done using something other than LT. This type of use of LT kinda goes against Dulrik's original stated purpose of LT, in potentially making characters much more powerful.

And as noted above, some of these would be extremely imbalancing. I would think that it would need to be limited to some very low level, more utility- and quality-of-life based skills/spells rather than ones that could create overpowered characters. Implemented as suggested would be really difficult to justify without some major limitations applied.

Conceptually, I personally really love anything that gives players the opportunity to specialize their characters and to set them apart from others in real ways. Balance and implementation are always key.
