I have no idea if this can be changed. I don't think its high enough priority to be on Dulrik's radar yet. I do not count it among the high priorities that are to be addressed soon. It would be nice if it were fixed, however.

I agree. Leave the lag, but do not consume a charge.

If the enchanting issue is ever raised again, I'll flame it there instead of here - suffice to say, it's a horrible idea.
