No, hide is -more- powerful than invis and camo, because it A) is a skill, not a spell, and B) can be used anywhere.

That's -anywhere-, and if tells could be sent while hidden, it would be too easy to exploit a few areas in the game. Trust me, I've thought of it.

Dulrik might change his mind on this one, but I for one hope he doesn't.

And if he does I'm rolling another rogue.

Has anybody ever heard of the spell 'detect hidden'?

On certain races, HIDE comes as an innate ability where invis and camo do not. Which is why it is slightly different from the other two.

It is debatable which is stronger. There are pros and cons to each which only matter to the individual CHARACTER to decide which would be the best plan of action.

Or the bazillion pills and potions made thereof?

Tell, gtell, and cb should not break hide.

It's not overpowered and gives something to rogues. It's just the way it is coded, however, that any 'action' breaks hide and those are considered actions.

I never had a problem with losing hide for the short short moment it takes to re-hide. Any halfling or rogue I would play would have a one button macro for hiding. If you're talking to someone, you're really not hiding. Yes, CB, tell, and gt are not vocal, but you're still communicating. Hide is mundane, invis is magical. Camo is restricted to the wilderness. Hide's restriction is this little annoyance. Seems fine to me.

Overall though, I do agree that cb/tell should not break hide. It is kinda annoying and does not fit with what hide does.
