Post subject:  Does drunkeness affect abilities?

I've recently happened upon a few drinks that caused my player to be drunk which I think is hilarious! But it did cause me to wonder if being drunk while fighting or doing just about anything changes the abilities of the character and if so, in what way? I'd imagine being drunk would probably inhibit fears and make a character almost like 'stance aggressive' or something. Then again, magic and concentration based things are probably more difficult. On the other hand, I could see where the programmers would only cause the speech slur that I've noticed and nothing more. Just wondering what the changes in that state really were.

It makes you better with women and allows you to better handle the harsh realities of life (I.e. you're adopted).

It also makes it where you can no longer "drink" from anything else. Not even a river or lake.

Thank you for the help. That is definitely useful to know.

I've always wished it did more, and I think a "sip" command in addition to the "drink" command would be very cool.

In the old MUD I played (now long dead), you could sip at drinks (think it was like 1/6th of the drink). It didn't matter when drinking non-alcoholic drinks so much as it took you longer to not be thirsty, but for alcoholic drinks it would potentially take you longer to get drunk.

As you sipped it, you'd first feel tipsy, and the drunk effects weren't too noticeable, then you'd feel drunk, and then you'd feel some greater version of drunk which I can't recall now. Similar to "smashed" but in better RP words. Drunker you got, worse your slurred speech/etc got.

You'd also get similar notices as you started to sober up. You could get really creative and start having different drinks hit people harder or less hard, etc, but that's likely more than is currently reasonable to assume someone would put time into. The sip command I feel like would be very easy to implement though. Even if it just let you take 5 sips before you were hit with the drunk effects.

I'd love to see drunk in the affects list.

Give a bonus damage reduction affect (roll with punch) but severe penalties to hit and dodge, and an increase in casting time and the cool-down for the physical skills.

Maybe add to that greater PE but limited speed to walk, and greater ME drain when casting. And when moving the character could be seen "XXXX stumbles off to the east.", that would be funny!

I agree the_me, that would be really awesome effects to see in the game as well as enhancing RP capabilities.

There should be a random chance to be knocked prone.
