I know this is a total Newb question so please bare with me here... But on the WHO list, each character has two slots to the left for race and profession. Obviously the race one gets filled when you greet someone, but how does the profession one get filled? I noticed a couple of characters it was filled on my list but most were not. What interaction is needed to fill this slot? Thanks for the help. |

It's a setting called "auto anonymous" for each person you have greeted, and one that you can enable yourself. If you have auto anonymous set to ON (the default) then when you greet people they will only see your race in the who list. If you have toggled auto anonymous to OFF then when you greet people they will see your race and class. |

A question I once knew the answer to, but forgot... Edoras has auto anon turned on. Edoras greets Rodwen. Rodwen only sees race. Edoras turns auto anon off. Does Rodwen automatically get to see Edoras's profession, or do they need to greet again? |

I think you'd need to greet again. Not totally sure though. |

Pretty much got that there. If you meet someone once, and only know their race, you'll never "see" their profession on the wholist. You will likely need to greet each other again, with anon toggled correctly, in order to see the profession... Honestly, if you know their profession OOC you can pretty much assume your character knows it ICly. But that depends on what you want your character to know... |

Actually, it's the other way around. If you've greeted someone then you've probably have had a chance to look at them, see their equipment and therefore deduce what class they are, or maybe they told you themselves, while still keeping anon on. So, if you can remember what class they are OOC, it's safe to remember IC, because you initially learned about it IC. Also, if their title suggests their class, it's also an IC piece of information you have heard. |

It would be pretty simple to test. I don't really want to, though. |

Auto anonymous default setting should be off. I have a suspicion that most players don't even bother with it, because it barely affects gameplay settings, and it's nearly innocuous on the auto lists. That being said, it's actually quite useful, I always have it set to off because then people who have greeted my character can see my class. If people who are newbs need to find someone like a tank or healer, it can speed up the process just by hitting who. The only real use I can think of turning it on is if you want to fool someone you're a sorcerer when you're actually a necromancer. |
