Post subject:  Searching for information on sales tax

Hello, how does sales tax work in Shattered Kingdoms? I have tried help sales, help tax, help sales tax, help kingdom sales, and so on, I have not been able to find relevant information on this topic. Currently I have noticed Taslamar is 5%, Ayamao is 2%, whereas Zhenshi is highest, at 10%. Can we as players setup shop and use this similar system, and have money goto our bank account? Does the monarch of a kingdom receive this tax money? Is there any way at all to tax evade? Does the tax apply even if we are not a citizen of that kingdom? Are there plans to implement different currencies for each kingdom? Thank you.

Tax is set and collected by the tribunal in charge of the defense of each kingdom. Their leadership sets the rate and it is collected whenever you purchase something in that kingdom. The collected money is periodically deposited into the tribunal's account which is used for paying for guards and the like.

There are no player run shops, and yes, what OldeSword said is correct, it's arranged by the kingdom's Tribunal and the Player Characters who are the leaders of it. 10% is the highest it can be set, and it can be set at 0. You're free to RP about how Zhenshi is obviously dirt poor or the Talon is run by a money grubbing fiend.

Everybody pays tax everywhere there is tax, citizenship doesn't matter. No way to evade it.

There is no tax in Uxmal. There is also absolutely nothing worth buying in Uxmal, at all. A result of the place not really having a KD.

There are a lot of things that don't have helpfiles, and should have them.

I'd prefer "tax" rather than "sales tax", the latter feels like such a modern term.

That's nonsense. It is literally a tax on saleable goods, and therefore a sales tax. The term is appropriate.

Help Sales Tax
Every nation with a tribunal can levy a sales tax of up to 10% on all sales within the lands. This coin is used to help support the supply of guards for law enforcement. The tax is levied on the sale price, so while those with negotiation skills to reduce that price will pay a lower tax, even though the tax itself cannot be haggled down. The leader of the national tribunal decides the tax rate for the nation. Uxmal, which has no tribunal, does not have a sales tax.
