is there a "bank" for items or do you just have to carry everything you own with you?
can you obtain a permanent(semi) place of dwelling or are we all just vagabonds?

There are no item banks. You can only own what you can carry. Or reliably hide. But it is difficult to reliably hide anything.

You can buy keys to houses, but they are not secure and not regarded as 'yours.'

The closest thing to having a fortress is to join a cabal.
