Perhaps I just don't know. But is it right for items bought in a newbie school area to get taken by thieves even when the character is a novice? Maybe it is, in which case I'm hoping that this will lead to an eventual discussion of why and why it shouldn't.

The case in question:

cold-iron horse-shoes at the Taslamaran Newb School. Or are we considering the area far enough (one league) south of the entrance as a ground for it not being considered a newb school location?

Any items for newbies should be built in such a way that thieves aren't interested in them at all.

By giving an example as you have, we should be able to easily check whether it's been built incorrectly for a newbie or alternately it may have a NOSAVE flag which can also be fixed.

I don't imagine there are too many store-bought items even 'near' newbie schools that are of sufficiently high level to attract the logout thieves code.

If its cold iron, its definitely not appropriate for a newbie zone. I'll take a look and provide something as a more useful and less frustrating replacement.

Can you move the cold iron store somewhere else? It has some nice weapons for griffons.

I really don't think the cold-iron shop is IN the Taslamaran newb school, and it's not inaccessible to anyone not a newb, either.

That made no sense.

In the context of jenbo's statement above mine, yes, it did.

But the last half of it has like 4 negatives!
