does that include all xp or only xp gained by damage and offensive spells.

I guess what I am getting at is can a caster become familiar with an area faster because they can use spells to get xp as well as melee?

Yes and no.

Spelsl grant more exp, thus you reach the familiarity faster. You still get the same ammount of levels before you are familair though, whether it is through spells or melee.

So you would get a bonus if you are enchanting in an area that you have never been in?

I think I recall Dulrik saying non combat spells are unaffected by area familiarity. So if you enchant in an area you do not get a bonus or penalty but it you acid blast someone that will be affected.

Okay, now does that affect healing spells?

I believe that I was told that you get more xp for healing in a fight then healing after. Do those affect your familiarity?

healing, being a non combar spell, is subject to the exp cap. It also does not affect familiarity. I am 95% sure.
