Is changing the elflight material from gemstone to leather/silver an option? After all, it's not the size of the gem that matters, but the chain/strap it's suspended from. Then the elflight could be resized pretty easily at a tailor or smith.

There may be good reasons why this isn't being done, but I think it might be a useful workaround for the wrong size issue.
