Teleport should be buffed, made available at mentor, and have a slight chance to dismember the caster on a failed attempt. (Like in Harry Potter).

Rift and gate both allow folks to follow. Think more along the lines of 'beam us up now, the tentacled alien is about to slay us' kinda group-teleport. Hmmm... better than a merc's retreat eh? :)

Not really, since teleport fails in combat.

Does every character know the stones' names, or should I ask someone else their names ICly before using teleport in that manner?

This is why the ban on sharing ooc information is unfair. We won't let new people in on the info, but we don't have problems using it ourselves.

I've been playing this game off and on for around 10 years and just recently managed to get my second GM in 100 hours (my first GM 3 years ago took about 400 hours). This wasn't because the game made leveling easier, it's just because I now know how to get from town to town and leveling place to leveling place and where to go to train my spells.

The reason it took me 10 years to reach this moderate level of success (i still don't know where to obtain the epic loots) is because I didn't dedicate myself to making characters just to explore and didn't get any ooc hookups (and also took years off between characters) I don't think it's reasonable to expect new players to spend years to learn to play the game just to be competitive and self-sufficient. SK is old now - share the info.

I've shared, ICly, that information with truly new players and many good players who, even though they know it, want to know it IC (a dieing breed, sadly).

Anyway, back to the topic of teleport. It would be nice to see maybe a few new teleport locations, perhaps some new stones (like near seawatch or something) would spice things up.
