I had another player contact me in game a few weeks ago, having been put into hell and then never seeing an immortal again. I'm not exactly sure what the Imm policy is, but perhaps it could use to be a little more newbie friendly? Again, I'm not sure to what degree these people just aren't listening...

... or how true it is what they are telling you.
I'm pretty certain, that every Imm transfering a player into hell as a more than valide reason to do so.

If you are put in hell, and you dont understand why. Use the Pray command, it will send a message to All Imms who are online and not currently building. Just a simple Pray I do not understand what I have done wrong. Do not spam the command it can be taken away from you for such. If there is an Imm on the who list an OOC tell to them asking for some information on your situation. If you get go response go over what happened to get you there.
The important thing to remember is with out a good reason you wouldnt be there so be as polite as possible.

The last time this happened to me, I pulled a poorly named newbie into a sitting room (the nicer version of hell) and explained that they needed to select a new name. They chose something and I renamed them.

When renaming, the character is forcibly logged out and the character gets the message:
Code:
Changing your name from X to Y.  Use Y to login from now on.

The problem occurred when the new character did not immediately log back on afterward. I waited around for half an hour but my time is not unlimited. When they finally come back (if they ever do), they will find themself stuck in the sitting room (or hell). Lesson to learn: Log back on after renaming.

I've been asked several times through the years to make name changes to my characters. It gets done in like 30 seconds. I don't know why you would even be sent to hell.

I would have to disagree, hell has a much nicer description.

Is it possible to drop by for sightseeing? I am interested in how it looks and doubt that teleport will dump me there. as well as I doubt that provoking such a response would be very appreciated from the staff...

Send me a PM with your character's name and I'll take you for a tour of hell and the sitting room. Although I'll guarantee you that you'll be disappointed, heh.

They get transferred to sitting room or hell first as a precaution. Unless we do, many people just type quit as soon as we begin talking to them, and then login again later when we are probably gone.
