Best religion/organization combos are mira/druid and thuban/cruxie. Ain/anything is a close second.

Although the gnome's small size is a good defensive buff, chances are if your priest is being hit, something's already gone wrong and you should be executing an exit strategy. Personally, I prefer traits that empower my attacks, not my retreats. While gnome has quite a good intelligence with solid wisdom, I see very little reason why you'd need to have a large mana pool if you're in Mira anyway.

But Baldric is right. All these alternatives to drow come nowhere near where drow ranks.

So OP, you want to play a drow priest of Mira who might join the Druids if given the right conditions. That's probably the most newbie friendly choice for several reasons:
- Instant roleplay. You won't need to grab around for ideas, people will bring them right to you. Sometimes on the end of a pointy stick. But that's all part of the game.
- Good casting. The high intelligence offsets the degree to which you'll need to rely on items to go about doing what you're designed to do as a priest.
- Useful. You will be very useful to many people, which increases the odds they'll do more than just nod at you when you bump into them.
- Newbie friendly traits. Infravision is REALLY convenient for a newbie. Like, really convenient. Medium size means most dresses will fit you out of the box. That's also very nice. Drow are hardy versus magic, which will save your bacon a few times, and since you can choose your battles, you can try not to encounter what you're weak against. Other racial choices are weak to wider categories of things.

i seem to recall grep being a fan of a wet noodle... no?

back to the priest question i'd go ain if you are thinking about pvp otherwise whatever immortal gets you off for RP. if you aren't building for pure twink awesome i say go one of the wee people choices just cuz thats what i'd do for [REDACTED] and giggles.

Mmm fluffer nutter, that's the stuff.

I think amid the diet darkkes I am the coke zero. Deep elf priests though are a ton of fun. Having played one for over two years now, I am still finding new avenues for interesting rp.

As for religion, it depends on what you think you can stomach spouting for a potentially long time. As others said you don't preach constantly, but there is going to be an expectation that you know your chosen faith and can preach at a moment's notice.

A lot of the advice has been good if you are wanting to get into pvp but for me the choice of religion is always rp based. Feel free to ask me anything else as well.
